Zhong Kui is a legendary figure in Chinese folklore, known as the Vanquisher of Ghosts and Evil Spirits. According to ancients tales, he was a brilliant scholar who excelled in his imperial examinations, but was denied official honor because of his appearance. In despair, he took his own like - yet his spirit, filled with righteousness and loyalty, was later recognized by the Jade Emperor, who appointed him as the powerful protector against evil.
Zhong Kui is often depicted with fierce yeys, a long beard, and a sword in hand - a symbol of justice, protection and moral integrity. In traditional Chinese art, his image is believed to ward off evil and bring peace to the home.

My paintings of Zhong Kui capture both his heroic energy and his deep sense of compassion - the strength to confront darkness, and the wisdom to protect with kindness.
